Jute’s Travel Guides to Aden

Forest of Evil Spirits

Just across the river from Oren Castle, nestled in between the Ivory Tower and Tower of Insolence, lies a forest haunted by strange and misshapen creatures.

The huge crater of the Ivory tower is sunken smack in the middle of the Forest and its shadow dominates the area, overpowering the natural beauty of the forest with a monolithic structure of magic and stone.

Don’t be tempted to get too close to the edge, hostile monsters lurk all around and one wrong step could send you tumbling into the crater!

In the southeast area of the forest there is a hill with stairs rising to the summit hiding a suprise.  As you climb you must take care for all around are potentially dangerous monsters.

The stairs end with a peaceful cemetery, where seemingly even the monsters respect the dead for none wander here.  You can wander among the graves and take in the gorgeous view in relative safety.

There in this hidden cemetery stands a woman waiting, Witch Kalis who is an important part of the Quest to raise the level of a clan from level 3 clan to level 4.

The forest itself surrounds the crater of Ivory Tower.  It’s haunting beauty can lull you into a false sense of security, but it is full of dangerous creatures.

Some creatures are peaceful and do not attack unless provoked.  The Formor is one that will come to the aid of it’s fellows but will not attack you unless you give it cause, their fearsome teeth and claws only used in defense.

There are two types of Formors, the regular type

and a stronger Elder type.  Neither are aggressive and will not help if you attack any creature other than their own kind.

The forest is filled with Bugbears, a huge tattooed and with an uncertain temperament, you never know if the Tarlk Bugbear is going to attack.  Sometimes they will let you walk by without seeming to notice you, other times, for no apparent reason they will charge and attack you.

The Tarlk Bugbear Warriors are always angry and need no reason to attack other than you got closer to them than they would like.

A third type of Bugbear, a grotesque exaggeration of the first two is the Tarlk Bugbear High Warrior.  He will not attack you unless you attack first or are attacking any of its fellow kind, not just High Warriors but regular Tarlk’s and Tarlk Warriors as well.

Although I could not find any quests specific for these creatures or this forest, I will continue to search for one.  However, if you happen to be doing the Coin quest (Coin of Magic that begins in Hunter’s Village with Warehouse Keeper Sorint) you will find the Formor’s a good source of the Silver Unicorn coins.

Many of the creatures here in this area drop Cursed Bones used by Spellhowlers and Necromancers for their spell Death Spike, which can be costly if you must buy them at Hardin’s Academy.  So, hunting here to save some up can be a cheaper alternative.

There are three raid bosses in the area.  Although technically part of the crater, at the rim of the Crater of the Ivory Tower, near the path down into the area, there stands an Iron Golem and his minions.

Legend says Iron Giant Totem was created by the devil Beleth as an independent thinking golem to manage other golems.  He was seal after Beleth’s defeat, however the orcs in the area worship him as a god and he has now come to believe that himself.

North of the area where you find the iron golem, you can find a group of orcs following Atui.

Katu Van Leader Atui can be found in a small hollow in the Western area of the forest.  He is a fierce fighter who wears the bones of animals as decorations and is surrounded by minions waiting to do his bidding.

Atui is a powerful Ketra Orc who hates the Silenos and the humans and has been sent by the Ketras to expand their influence into Aden.

To the Northwest, towering over all others in the area the King of the Bugbears watches over his followers.

Legend says that the Bugbear king was once a man who was foolish enough to seek to visit Antharas alone to learn dragon magic, which humans cannot learn.  To punish him for waking him up Antharas turned him into the ugly creature you see here.

Now, because of his ugly appearance he hates anything that is beautiful.  Although he curses Anthras, he fears him and hides from the Land Dragon in fear.

If you are looking for a peaceful day in the forest, this might not be the place for you, but if you are looking for a bit of adventure and perhaps a bit of profit in turn, come visit the Forest of Evil Spirits.
