Jute’s Travel Guides to the World of Aden

Alligator Island

To the North of the beautiful City of Hiene lies an island shrouded in mystery.  The beautiful white sand beaches and the clear blue ocean waters surround an island as deadly as the beauty that surrounds it.

The island has no bridges to it and to reach it you must either swim, or take the port from the lovely gatekeeper, Flauen in Heine.  If you port, you will land on a gorgeous beach, with a warning of sorts, nearby are the bones of some large animal.  You are far away from the serenity of the water city.

Although the sun shines down upon the island, it is swampy and full of dangerous creatures just waiting to snack on an unwary traveler.

Alligators infest the island.  They blend in with the murky water and can be difficult to spot.  One step too close and they will run for you snappy with their jaws.  They are social creatures and will help their own kind if they notice another being attacked.  If you have time before visiting the island be sure to stop and talk to Trader Enverun in the Grocery shop in Heine.  He will offer you a deal and pay you for every alligator pelt you return.

These alligators are the least of your worries, you can easily identify them as beasts.  The swampy land, however is infested with ‘gators of a two legged kind!

Among the dangers you will find the Crokian Lad

They are much stronger than your average monster.  Aggressive and social, they will attack you if they see you.  Luckily their eyesight is as poor as most monsters and you can avoid them if you are careful.

The Dailaon Lad is a much less aggressive creature.

He will not attack you unless provoked.  The only exception is if you attack any of the other two legged monsters such as the Crokians.  If they are nearby and you are fighting one of these, they will join the attack.

Crokian Lad Warriors are tougher than the Crokian Lad.

They too are aggressive and social and as tough as any of the two legged monsters on the island.

Another creature similar to the Dailaon Lad is the Farhite Lad.  He too will not attack unless provoked or joining to protect his fellow gators.

If contending with single, strong monsters was not enough, beware the Swamp Tribe and minions.

These monsters travel in packs and unlike many group monsters, they do not do so because they are weaker, they are in fact as strong as the rest of the two legged gators that menace the island.  They are deadly.  Aggressive, social and strong, stay away from these unless you too are strong in return.

The last of the regular monsters on the island is the Nos Lad.  The ultimate gator fighting machine he is as tough as he looks.  Aggressive and social as well, they are as difficult to kill as any seasoned warrior.

The island is dotted with groups of these monsters, ready and willing to attack the careless traveler.

Other than the potentially lethal inhabitants the island is also home to one of the mysterious structures for the Seven Signs.  Worshiper’s Necropolis rises above the murky water of the swamp.

The island is not easy but it can be profitable.  It is said to be the last resting place of the treasure map of a Boatswain of the Pirate Zaken.  In order to have a chance at this map you must first have spoken to Warehouse Freightman Kluck in the Warehouse in Heine.  He will offer you a deal to help him clear out a trade route on Alligator Island by killing Crokian Lads, Daileon Lads, Crokian Lad Warriors, Farhite Lads, Nos Lads and the Swamp Tribe.  While killing these, you may find bits of a treasure map in addition to the teeth as you kill.  Take those map pieces to Trader Espen in the Weapons and Armor shop in Hiene, who will tell you a chilling story of what can happen when you trust the wrong woman.

The island also holds three special monsters and their minions.  On the Western side of the Island, not far from the Necropolis is Biconne of Blue Sky, the pet of the evil genius mystic Sartune.

Biconne is intelligent and playful.  He is currently wreaking havoc on Alligator Island by controlling a large number of minions.

Although beautiful, he is dangerous and should be treated with caution if provoked.

On the East side of the Island you will find a Croakian shaman who serves Water Dragon Fafurion.

He helps Chief Sebek and delivers Fafurion’s commands to the Croakians.  He controls the local alligators with spells to force them to do his bidding.

Around the south eastern area of the Island is another fearsome Croakian, Panathen.

This ancient Croakian has protected the land before humans and elves invaded its shores.  He believes in the magic of the land of Innadril and fights those encroaching on its land to protect the magic he holds sacred.

Alligator Island is isolated and less traveled than many areas, but worth the trip with the right motivation!
